Down
I have been working at the cafe now for almost 12 weeks and had my first day yesterday that I just could not work. I was down . Now when I say down I mean DOWN, the lower depths of beneath it all, lower than then average person. Bi-Polar will do that to you. My meds are fine, it's just snaps at me once in a while. I came home after being at work for an hour and took a nice long nap, better to sleep it off than to stay a wake and fight it. A nap is the easy way out, take a xanax and feel like sleeping for a time. I took half because I still needed to go to James' basketball game at 4. So, hoping today is better and getting ready for the day. There is always tomorrow, right? Love and Peace.

Medical Stuff

On Friday I went and had a couple of growths removed from my face, nothing major , just a cyst and a mole. Now I have to wear band aids til the spots are healed and have a couple of stitches. I was very aware of both spots being there and thought others noticed them also, boy was I wrong. I have found out, a lot of people had never noticed and it wasn't that be of deal but, I am glad they are gone just the same. The one on my chin was a mole that would change and then settle down on a regular basis, mole do that with hormones, never knew that one. The cyst on my cheek was deep and they think they got it all. The Dr. that did the removing was very nice and did it in one visit instead of have me drive to the Springs twice for it. I can have my stitches removed locally and that's nice too. I have a gal who gets her hair done every once in a while, waited on her at the restaurant the other day and she is also a R.N. She is going to do the removal for me. Don't even have to go to an office, she'll do it at my house! How lucky am I??? I just have to call the Dr. office on the 24th and get my lab results from the mole they sent in. I am not worried, just standard stuff everything gets sent to the lab these days.
On a more worried note, my Mom was having chest pains yesterday and decided that since it was relieved by an aspirin (not taken properly) and a nitro pill she would stay home and be fine. I am so mad. My Dad has been through this before as a patient and should no better. My Mom called last night to whine that Dad had been watching her like a hawk all day! Well, she should have gone in! Mom had reasoned she didn't want to sit in the waiting room for hours with snot nosed kids. I explained, more than once, that if you go to the ER with chest pains you go in right away, NO WAITING. She told me she would call her Doc first thing Monday morning, I told her if it happens again over the weekend to call 911 or go to the nearest hospital. Her reasoning wasn't great that they have built new hospitals way out east of town (the Springs) and it's a long drive. I explained yet again the the old ones IN TOWN had been redone also and are still treating people too. My Mom is some times very stubborn, she then said things about not being able to afford the bills. My folks have insurance and no, it doesn't cover everything but, you can make payments. So, she says she just wanted me to know not, a lecture, duh! I am an EMT don't tell me about chest pains and not seeing a Dr. and not expect my advice and a lecture on what to do, I know what should be done. So, today i plan to do some baking and try to relax first day at home from job and the Springs for over a week but, if I need to I will drive to the Springs and drag my Moms happy butt to the ER myself :) Love and Peace.

Tonsils
I honestly don't know why we even have tonsils. They are bothersome and we seem healthier after they are removed, for the most part. Newt got his taken out on July 10th. We spent the night in Denver at the hospital and came home the next morning. He started out doing really well then around Tuesday he started with the "I don't want my medicine" and "I don't want to talk or drink." By Thursday we were at the Dr. office with an IV for re hydration and morphine for pain. We were told to do tough love and sit him at the kitchen table with nothing but 8 oz. of water. Every hour he drank water or juice. He is much better now and talking again. He is on his way to being 100%. So, besides having company twice this last week and Bill's Aunt Fay being in the hospital we have gotten Newt on the road to recovery. Thank goodness. Love and Peace.

Ranch Rodeo
Tonight I was one of the standby EMTs for the ranch rodeo here in Hugo. It's a rodeo where working ranches send their best to do what they do. All the events are based on things done regularly on ranches all over. It was pretty interesting to watch until they got to the bronco riding. You know 8 seconds then the horn signaling they can get of the wild horse. Well, the I got to see the first one and the tail end of the last one. The first on got bucked off then stepped on. So, we jumped into action and did our thing. The poor guy had a hoof print on his right upper quadrant. Not a good place to get stepped on but, where is. So, he will be recovering for a while. I hope he comes out of it all okay, he sure was in a lot of pain. Nobody else got hurt tonight so that was a plus, and now I am off to bed. Newt has T-ball tournaments tomorrow, another busy day. Love and Peace.

EMS in Hugo
On Saturday the local hospital had their first annual "EMS Appreciation Day". I drove the ambulance and the assistant fire chief drove our rescue truck down to be judged for a little contest they had. We didn't win anything but, James, my son, got a snazzy "Flight for Life" hat for helping with drawing numbers for door prizes. Most of our Ambulance crew was out on patrol for the bike race that was in town. Once a year a bunch of bike riders do a huge ride from here to Karval on 109 then over to south 71 up to 2W back to Hugo. Seems like a awful lot of riding to end up back where you started and just to get sweaty. I helped out last year, some of those wrecks can be pretty nasty, it's good to have an ambulance close by. We just kinda shadow them throughout the day. Not much else going on in the world of EMS lately, never say the "Q" word, it always back fires on you and gets busier than heck!!!! Love and Peace.

A new me
Well, I haven't posted in a long time but, maybe I can get better at it. I had been waiting for a year or two for the money to get my teeth fixed. I have had bad teeth all my life and the meds I've been on the last five or six years hadn't helped. I finally got my new chompers on Tuesday. They look great and will be worked in in no time. I also went and got new glasses. It had been about six years since my last eye appointment. So, new glasses were needed, I got some with the magnetic sunglasses that click on. Last night I let Hubby cut my hair! A little shorter than I wanted but, cute just the same. Hubby can't bitch, he cut it! I will be posting some pics on Flickr. Love and Peace.
