Ranch Rodeo

Tonight I was one of the standby EMTs for the ranch rodeo here in Hugo. It's a rodeo where working ranches send their best to do what they do. All the events are based on things done regularly on ranches all over. It was pretty interesting to watch until they got to the bronco riding. You know 8 seconds then the horn signaling they can get of the wild horse. Well, the I got to see the first one and the tail end of the last one. The first on got bucked off then stepped on. So, we jumped into action and did our thing. The poor guy had a hoof print on his right upper quadrant. Not a good place to get stepped on but, where is. So, he will be recovering for a while. I hope he comes out of it all okay, he sure was in a lot of pain. Nobody else got hurt tonight so that was a plus, and now I am off to bed. Newt has T-ball tournaments tomorrow, another busy day. Love and Peace.

EMS in Hugo

On Saturday the local hospital had their first annual "EMS Appreciation Day". I drove the ambulance and the assistant fire chief drove our rescue truck down to be judged for a little contest they had. We didn't win anything but, James, my son, got a snazzy "Flight for Life" hat for helping with drawing numbers for door prizes. Most of our Ambulance crew was out on patrol for the bike race that was in town. Once a year a bunch of bike riders do a huge ride from here to Karval on 109 then over to south 71 up to 2W back to Hugo. Seems like a awful lot of riding to end up back where you started and just to get sweaty. I helped out last year, some of those wrecks can be pretty nasty, it's good to have an ambulance close by. We just kinda shadow them throughout the day. Not much else going on in the world of EMS lately, never say the "Q" word, it always back fires on you and gets busier than heck!!!! Love and Peace.
